Areas of Expertise:

Respiratory

Past and present Asthma and COPD trials conducted at Primorus range from monoclonal antibodies to novel adjuvant studies. We have trained respiratory technicians and research nurses utilising various makes of spirometry equipment on our studies.

Neurology

Primorus has a focus on neurological early phase studies such as Parkinson's Disease, Alzheimer's and Migraine. Past and current studies include Migraine, Neuropathic pain and Multiple Sclerosis ranging from immunostimulants to traditional chemical entities.

A 3T MRI scanner is co-located next to the Research Institute and a new PET scanner is due in Christchurch in 2010. We are luckey to have Neurologist, Professor Tim Anderson working on early phase studies for Primorus and in conjunction with Assoc Professor Chris Frampton we are able to design and conduct Proof of Concept studies for neurological compounds.

The Van Der Veer Institute (also located in the research institute) has expertise in functional MRI and Arterial Spin Labelling and collaborates on later phase trials.
